Ben Whishaw and Aimee Lou Wood to star in one-night-only Theatre503 fundraiser
Theatre503 has announced an exclusive fundraising event on 4 March at The Cinema in the Power Station, supporting the company’s work as the UK’s only theatre dedicated solely to debut playwrights.
The one-night-only, star-studded evening will feature a script-in-hand reading of Debris, the debut play by acclaimed writer Dennis Kelly, hosted by Theatre503 and presented in partnership with The Cinema in the Power Station.
The reading is staged over two decades since Debris premiered at Theatre503, introducing Dennis Kelly as one of one of the UK’s most distinctive contemporary voices. Ben Whishaw (Skyfall; Spectre; No Time To Die) and Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education, Netflix), two of the UK’s most celebrated actors, will play the roles of Michael and Michelle.
The evening will include a Q&A with the cast and special guests on the importance of new writing for theatre and the power of debut plays.
Artistic Director & Co-CEO Anthony Simpson-Pike and Executive Director & Co-CEO Emily Carewe said: “Theatre503 is a launchpad for the UK’s most exciting writing talent - a place where bold new voices begin. We’re proud to return to Dennis Kelly’s Debris for this special event celebrating the power of a debut play, and thrilled to welcome the brilliant Ben and Aimee. This event is both a celebration of our past and a rallying cry for what comes next - a future made possible by vital support from those who believe in our small but mighty theatre.”
All proceeds from the event will go directly towards supporting Theatre503’s work with emerging playwrights.
Tickets for Debris go on general sale on 11 February at 10am here.
