Fringe review: FRIEND (THE ONE WITH GUNTHER), Brendan Murphy - Edinburgh Festival Fringe

236 episodes, 10 seasons, all in 70 minutes, told by the only one who really knows - the '7th friend', Gunther. Discover the true inside story of what happened to the one character who kept the rest of the friends caffeinated.

Written by Brendan Murphy and directed by Hamish MacDougall (the same team that brought us Buffy Revamped), Friend (The One With Gunther) is an insight into how Gunther really felt about Rachel, how he was treated badly by the other 'friends', and how it should all have really ended.

Performed by Joseph Maudsley as Gunther, this is an unsurprisingly hilarious look at the phenomenon that was Friends. Whether you were a fan in the 90's, loved the re-runs or have absolutely no idea what it's all about, it's still worth a watch.

Maudsley is just brilliant as Gunther. He has the perfect take on his obsession with Rachel and a great rapport with the audience, especially when audience participation is required.

Welcome to the real world of Friends....you're gonna love it!

Could it 'be' any funnier?

***** Five stars
