Fringe review: DIZNEY IN DRAG - ONCE UPON A PARODY, The Hairy Godmothers - Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Welcome to ‘A Whole New World’ of adult fairytales! Follow familiar characters and discover sides of them we never knew existed. Prepare to have all your childhood dreams shattered like Cinderella's glass slipper. We're going to be honest Besties, this is not one for the faint hearted. Some parts of the comedy might be described as 'gone a bit too far' but on the whole, this is actually a very funny and cleverly constructed piece.

It has all your favourite characters but definitely not how you have seen them before. It's the Prince that has the glass slipper and is looking for their fairytale 'one true love'. Does that even exist? And what does it look like anyway?

Full of queer representation (you don't get that with Disney), it's a fun look at the ironies and stereotypes of the fairytale, mixing them up a bit and throwing in some very adult humour.

Owen Merriman as Hairy Godmother deserves a special mention. We loved his beer drinking and his awful jokes, and wouldn't mind a Godmother like that ourselves to be honest!

Crudeness with sparkles and sequins.

*** Three stars
