Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre announces full cast for world premiere of SHERLOCK HOLMES
Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has announced full casting for the world premiere of Sherlock Holmes, a new mystery by Joel Horwood and directed by Sean Holmes, which runs from 2 May – 6 June.
Joining the previously announced Joshua James as Sherlock are Christopher Akrill (Carnival, Royal Festival Hall) as Sholto/Judge, Andre Antonio (Romeo and Juliet, Belgrade Theatre/Bristol Old Vic/Hackney Empire) as Pockets/Referee, Will Brown (Hamnet, West End) as Small/Lestrade, Paolo Guidi (The Ocean at the End of the Lane, West End/UK tour) as Graziano/Bill, Benjamin Harrold (Strictly Ballroom, UK tour) as Morstan, Jyuddah Jaymes (Choir Boy, Bristol Old Vic) as Watson, Nadi Kemp-Sayfi (Cymbeline, Shakespeare’s Globe) as Mary, Marcia Lecky (Maggots, Bush Theatre) as Mrs Hudson/Lucia, Mervin Noronha (Mean Girls, West End) as Tonga/Azad, Yuyu Rau (Sputnik Sweetheart, Arcola Theatre) as Lin/Nancy, Theo Reece (Midnight, Sadler’s Wells East) as Domingo, Rakhee Sharma (The Winter’s Tale, RSC) as Aleksandra/Padshah Begum Jahan, Tamara Tare (Once On This Island, West End) as Ensemble/Onstage Swing, and Patrick Warner (Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense, Octagon Theatre Bolton/Wiltshire Creative/Salisbury Playhouse) as Mycroft/Thaddeus.
Director Sean Holmes said: “I’m very excited to begin attacking this mad monster of a project. Joel’s written a tremendous new version , challenging the creative team and our cracking cast to conjure a dynamic, gripping and constantly surprising world, where iconic characters are presented in a fascinating new light as Imperial London collapses into chaos.”
The creative team also include co-costume designer and supervisor Lisa Aitken, composer Jherek Bischoff, movement director Charlotte Broom, casting director Stuart Burt CDG, CSA, lighting designer Ryan Day, wigs, hair and make-up designer Carole Hancock, voice coach Hazel Holder, dialect coach Gurkiran Kaur, fight director Enric Ortuno, sound designer Elena Peña, and set and co-costume designer Grace Smart.

London, 1890, a city rapidly expanding, devouring all in its path. Fresh off the success of his first big case, Sherlock Holmes misuses his time, until an unknown woman and a mysterious jewel arrive at 221b Baker Street.
As the chase begins, and with lives on the line, can Holmes and Watson pull back the curtain on the big show and reveal the mastermind behind this deadly conspiracy.
