Full cast and creative team announced for GET DOWN TONIGHT at Charing Cross Theatre
The full cast and creative team have been announced for the London premiere of Get Down Tonight, the official KC and the Sunshine Band Musical, which plays at Charing Cross Theatre from 19 September – 15 November.
Inspired by the early life of singer, songwriter, producer and musician Harry Wayne Casey (KC) and set against the vibrant backdrop of 1970s Miami, this feel-good show celebrates the friendships, love and music that defined a generation. Developed in collaboration with Harry Wayne Casey and featuring a book by J. F. Lawton, the production is packed with over 20 of the band’s greatest hits, including ‘Give It Up’, ‘That’s The Way (I Like It)’, and ‘Get Down Tonight’.
The cast features Ross Harmon (Shucked, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) portraying the real-life Harry Wayne Casey (KC), alongside Adam Taylor (Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, West End) as Orly, Paige Fenlon (Pretty Woman, West End) as Dee, and Annabelle Terry (Scissorhandz, Southwark Playhouse) as Gina return following the show’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe run. Ensemble members include Aaron Archer (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, UK & Ireland Tour), Eve Drysdale (Fame the Musical, European Tour), Rachael Kendall Brown (Pretty Woman, UK & Ireland Tour), and Finley Oliver (professional debut).
Harry Wayne Casey (KC) said: “There’s something infectious about dance music and the way it allows people to escape from the world and find themselves at the same time. I’m excited to share this show we've created with audiences in London, from the generations who were there with me in the 70s, to younger ages who just know me from the hits on the radio, in the movies or on TV shows. Everyone can connect to the music. We just wanted to bring that nostalgia to the stage and I wanted to show people a little bit more about who I am. For me, this is about telling the story of what helped shape my dreams into reality. It is a sample of life and emotions among four good friends in the early 70’s. After all these years, the music has allowed me to tell that story. Enjoy the music, the magic, the musical!"
The production is directed and choreographed by Lisa Stevens, musical supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Mark Crossland , set design by Bretta Gerecke, costumes based on original designs by Tom Rogers, lighting by Jai Morjaria, sound by Chris Whybrow, and casting by Anne Vosser.
