9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL to play as part of Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s Season 2027

Musical theatre returns to the Main House at Pitlochry Festival Theatre when Cora Bissett (The Singer, Dundee Rep Theatre; Glasgow Girls, Raw Material) directs a new production of Dolly Parton’s much-loved musical 9 to 5 from 1-29 May.

Based on the iconic 1980 film and set to Dolly Parton's Grammy-nominated score, 9 to 5 follows Violet, Judy, and Doralee: three coworkers pushed to breaking point by their sexist, egotistical boss, Franklin Hart Jr. Fed up with being overlooked, underpaid, and undermined, they hatch a plan to get even and accidentally end up running the company far better than he ever did.

Packed with Dolly's unmistakable songs and big laughs, it's a hugely entertaining musical comedy that still has plenty to say about life in the workplace.

Whether you're clocking in for the first time or you've had Dolly on repeat since 1980, this is a show about turning frustration into fabulousness, one office coup at a time.

Grab your headset, dust off your ambition, and get ready to change that awful, terrible, no-good boss's mind. 9 to 5 - working for a living has never looked, or sounded, this good.

Other confirmed shows include: Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy Absent Friends, the previously announced world première of the stage adaptation of Supernova starring Alan Cumming and Ewan McGregor, and the world premières of Hannah Lavery’s new play Love Songs for Monsters and Eden McIntyre’s debut stage play about the celebrated Scottish artist Jack Vettriano - Jack Vettriano Can't Paint!

Public booking opens on 29 October, with further info here.
