Workshop announced for new stage musical MAID MARIAN AND HER MERRY MEN A NEW MUSICAL* (*SORT OF)
As it prepares for an expected UK premiere later this year, a first-look workshop performance has been announced for Maid Marian and Her Merry Men A New Musical* (*sort of), based on Tony Robinson’s hit BBC TV series, at Soho Theatre on 25 January.
With a book, music & lyrics by Olivier Award winning writer Vikki Stone, and directed and developed by by Benji Sperring, the workshop cast includes Bronté Barbé (Newsies, Troubadour) as Maid Marian, Vikki Stone as Sheriff of Nottingham, Nick Helm (Uncle, BBC Three) as King John, Myles Miller (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) as Robin Hood, Marek Larwood (Black Ops, BBC) as Rabies, Damien James (The Play That Goes Wrong, UK tour) as Barrington, Marc Pickering (Great Expectations, West End) as Little Ron, Michelle Bishop (Cabaret, West End) as Gary, and Natasha Lewis (The Boy In The Dress, RSC) as Graham.
Vikki Stone said: “I cannot tell you how delighted I am to be writing Maid Marian. Its was one of my absolute favourite kids TV shows in the ‘90s, and I couldn’t be more excited to be working with comedy legend Sir Tony Robinson on this wonderful show.”
The show features musical supervision by Paul Schofield, and sound by Dan Samson.
At the first stage of the production on this new show, the producers will be presenting this showing to an invited audience to support the ongoing development of this new co-family viewing show.
