Winner of 2021 MTI Stiles + Drewe Mentorship Award Omar Baroud to present new musical AFTER ELIJAH

Winner of the 2021 MTI Stiles + Drewe Mentorship Award Omar Baroud will present the very first industry presentation of his new musical, After Elijah, at The Other Palace on 1 July.

This presentation is the culmination of the Mentorship Award after a year of mentorship under George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, which has included a week-long development retreat, two progress labs with feedback from a panel of industry experts and many hours of writing under the guidance of the acclaimed writing team.

Elijah’s got something to tell his family, and he’s got a plan for it, but before he gets the chance, a tragedy occurs. Elijah’s family, now moving out of his childhood home, are finding themselves silent about his need to speak up, or the fact that his boyfriend has been living in the house for the past year.

After Elijah is Omar’s writing debut, and he can also be found currently starring as Clifford Bradshaw in the highly acclaimed production of Cabaret at the Playhouse Theatre (KitKat Club). The show is directed by Matthew Xia, with musical direction and orchestration by Flynn Sturgeon. The cast includes Sharif Afifi, Parisa Shahmir, Nick Carter, Jodie Jacobs, Stephen Rahman-Hughes and Lanna Joffrey.
