West End star Shanay Holmes releases debut studio album BECOMING

Award-winning West End actress Shanay Holmes, best known for her critically acclaimed portrayal of Nancy in Oliver!, has announced the release of her debut studio album BECOMING this October, preceded by the release of her first single, ‘No One Is Alone’ today (10 July).

Featuring eleven reimagined musical theatre classics alongside an original title track written by Shanay herself, BECOMING is more than a traditional covers album. Each song has been transformed through Shanay’s distinctive vocal interpretation and bold new orchestral arrangements, creating both a love letter to musical theatre and a compelling emotional journey in its own right.

The album explores universal themes of hope in the face of hardship, the search for connection and a sense of belonging, resilience, survival, and protection - ideas that feel especially resonant in the world today.

Showcasing Shanay’s extraordinary range and artistry across some of the most iconic songs ever written for the stage, BECOMING is a rich, cinematic offering helmed by renowned producer Steve Anderson, whose production credits include Westlife and Susan Boyle. Featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the album brings a bold, contemporary orchestral sound to some of musical theatre’s most iconic songs.

Shanay Holmes said: “This album is about finding connection, purpose and the courage to keep believing despite adversity. At its heart is the idea that every moment - no matter how difficult - is shaping the person you are becoming.

Shanay’s performances have previously been described as “the best thing I have ever heard” (Virgin Radio’s Chris Evans), “a remarkable singer” (The Guardian) and always delivering “a powerhouse performance” (WhatsOnStage). Across a celebrated career spanning 15 years in the West End and major regional venues, she has starred in productions including Oliver!, Miss Saigon, Get Up, Stand Up!, The Bridges of Madison County, Rent and The Bodyguard.

‘No One Is Alone’ is available now, along with pre-ordering BECOMING ahead of its release on 16 October.
