West End run of SHOWSTOPPER! THE IMPROVISED MUSICAL extends to July 2026

The incredible Showstopper! The Improvised Musical has once again extended its West End run, now booking through to July 2026, marking its fourth record-breaking year at London’s iconic Cambridge Theatre.
Fresh from another triumphant Edinburgh Fringe at the Pleasance Grand, the award-winning team are also back on the road with a newly extended UK tour.
A jaw-dropping, laugh-a-minute phenomenon, Showstopper! remains the first ever long-form improv show to enjoy a full West End residency and to win an Olivier Award. Each night, audiences suggest settings, genres, and titles, and the cast create a brand-new, fully realised musical on the spot, every performance a one-off masterpiece.
The cast take ideas for settings, genres, musical styles and the show title and weave it into ingenious storylines with hilarious characters. From Lin Manuel Miranda to Stephen Sondheim, whether it’s set in a primary school, Ancient Egypt, or a mattress shop – if the audience thinks it, The Showstoppers can turn it into a hit musical.
Showstopper! The Improvised Musical features an acclaimed cast of top comedy and musical theatre talent, including founding member Ruth Bratt (the first new core member to be added to the Comedy Store Players in almost 30 years), Lucy Trodd and Susan Harrison (whose new comedy pilot Hopping also recently aired on BBC Radio 4) and Pippa Evans (a BBC Radio 4 regular with shows like I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue). A recent viral clip of Evans singing the lyrics of Hokey Cokey to the tune of Mariah Carey’s ‘Without You’ hit 10.6 million views and 250k likes.
Co-founder Adam Meggido directed Mischief's West End and Broadway hit Peter Pan Goes Wrong, whilst cast member Matt Cavendish appeared in this year’s Royal Variety Performance with Mischief's recent success A Comedy About Spies and will be in the West End again this winter with Christmas Carol Goes Wrong. Joshua C. Jackson can also be found in the West End right now in MJ The Musical. Several members of the company have starred in the original UK cast of recent musicals including Muriel's Wedding (Ethan Pascal Peters), Starter For Ten (Miracle Chance), and 50 First Dates: The Musical (Martha Pothen). Both Andrew Puglsey and Susan Harrison can be found at Birmingham Rep this holiday season in the new comedy Sherlock Holmes and the 12 Days of Christmas, with songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Since its incarnation in 2008 troupe have performed created more than 1,400 brand new musicals, but they don’t stop working hard at their craft – they have to learn to improvise in the style of every hit show that comes to town, and they always encourage audiences to challenge them and keep them on their toes. As a result, they continue fill theatres, delight audiences and win awards.
