The Hope Theatre has today announced further details of its autumn programme. They will kick off with in-house production Fever Pitch, which will run in the early 7pm slot from 31 August – 25 September.

The Good Dad will run alongside Fever Pitch from 31 August–11 September. Written by Gail Louw and directed by Anthony Shrubsall, The Good Dad has the following synopsis; The whole family knew he was a good dad. But he wasn’t well, he had a weak heart, so they gathered around him to protect him - from everything, because he really was a good dad. And Donna was special; he loved her the most. So why is Donna in prison?

Following the aforementioned shows will be King, a monologue focusing upon the state of the nation and surviving post-Brexit Britain as a down-on-his-luck migrant. Written and performed by Greek playwright and stand-up comedian Dennis Matsikas, the show will run from 21–25 September.

Rat King, a play written by Bram Davidovich and directed by Dan Phillips, follows the juxtaposition that Kelly and Jack find in their lives, one suffocated by home life and the worry of her parents, whilst the other a homeless youth struggling to survive on the streets. Rat King will play from 5–9 October.

Lovesick and Darling will follow from 2–6 November and 9–27 November respectively. Lovesick focuses on the relationship forged between a heart transplant patient and her new organ and the connection made with her surgeon using movement, dialogue, and poetry. Darling  follows Angie and Dave in 1985 as they attempt to pull off a monumental ‘catfish’ scam before computers were invented.

The Hope Theatre has a Christmas offering in 21 Round for Christmas where we join the world of Tracy; a proud mother, wife, friend and family member who, in the midst of cooking Christmas Dinner, begins to feel she is surplus to requirements except at Christmas. This will play from 30 November-18 December.

Artistic Director Kennedy Bloomer said: “Our incredible line-up this Autumn have mostly been waiting for 17 months for us to get here together. We’ll be recommending the wearing of face-masks and keeping our enhanced cleaning and sanitisation this season to keep everyone as safe as possible. We’re so proud, relieved and grateful to still be here. I wish all the best to the new Artistic Director who is yet to be announced – The Hope really is the little theatre with BIG ideas and long may it continue!”

Tickets for the shows are available to book here.
