Royal Exchange Theatre announces 2022 programme

The Royal Exchange in Manchester have announced their 2022 programme of work, to include Betty! A Sort of Musical written by and starring Maxine Peake and Seiriol Davies.

Directed by ex-Artistic Director Sarah Frankcom, Betty! A Sort of Musical runs from 3 December 2022-14 January 2023 and tells the story of a Yorkshire-based amateur dramatics society which has come together to celebrate the first female speaker of the House of Commons, Betty Boothroyd.

Other highlights of the season include Stef Smith’s Nora: A Dolls House (4 March-2 April 2022), Tim Foley’s play Electric Rosary (23 April-14 May 2022), Lolita Chakrabarti’s Red Velvet (27 May-25 June 2022), a new production of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie (2 September-8 October 2022), and Jack Thorne’s adaptation of of John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel Let the Right One In (22 October-19 November 2022).
