Rob Houchen to present EVEN STEPHENS concert celebrating Sondheim and Schwartz
West End performer Rob Houchen will present Even Stephens, a special solo concert celebrating the work of two of musical theatre’s most influential composers, Stephen Sondheim and Stephen Schwartz, at The Other Palace Studio on 10 May.
Spanning more than seventy years of extraordinary music between them, Sondheim and Schwartz have shaped the landscape of musical theatre with scores that have captivated audiences around the world. From celebrated works such as Into the Woods, Merrily We Roll Along and Sunday in the Park with George to beloved favourites including Pippin, Wicked and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, their work continues to define the art form both on stage and screen.
Even Stephens will be presented in two halves, with one dedicated to each composer. Houchen will perform a carefully curated selection of songs that reflect his personal connection to their work, joined by special guest performers throughout the afternoon.
Accompanied by piano in the intimate setting of The Other Palace Studio, Houchen will weave together performances of some of his favourite songs with stories and anecdotes, offering audiences a personal glimpse into the music that has inspired him throughout his career. The result promises to be an intimate afternoon celebrating two of the most brilliant and enduring composers in musical theatre history.
