Review: SING OUT, LOUISE!, Phoenix Arts Club

Sing Out, Louise! at the Phoenix Arts Club is the perfect night out for musical theatre fans; a show tunes sing-along experience, hosted by incredibly talented musicians and singers, offering a night of entertainment like no other. It’s many things rolled into one; a show, a bar, a sing-along and a chance to meet like-minded theatre lovers in a welcoming and relaxed environment.
The staff are encylopedic in their musicals knowledge and it seems that they can perform any song, from any musical, at any time. Every visit is different, in part due to the different artists working that evening, but mainly because the songs are chosen from requests, so one night could be 'Under the Sea’ leading into ‘You’ll Be Back’, and the next ‘Mein Herr’ followed by ‘Defying Gravity’, and anything and everything you can think of in between! If you’ve ever been in a theatre and struggled not to hum along to ‘Masquerade’, sing along to ‘Wait for Me’, or yell ‘Lipschitz’, then you will appreciate all that Sing Out, Louise! has to offer.
Thanks to the laid back and inclusive environment, you can join in as much or as little as you like. If you would rather just have a drink and soak in the atmosphere, you’ll still have a fantastic time, as the singers are outstanding, not surprising given most of them theatre or music stars. Also, it is not unusual for current West End cast members to pop by and belt out a tune or two. With recent visits from Tom Francis and Gabriel Vick, there’s a chance you’ll experience a star performance yourself.
This place is a true gem, friendly staff, great drink choices, reasonable entry price and a good old fashioned sing song. The perfect post-show hang out, Sing Out, Louise! captures all that’s great about the theatre: talent, shared experience, and a whole lot of fun.
The perfect place to make a new West End Best Friend! Sing Out, Louise! is open from 9pm-3am Wednesday-Sunday, and is £10 entry or £10 monthly membership fee (which goes to the artists). There are also monthly sing along bottomless brunches, which can be booked in advance.
