Fringe review: SHOWSTOPPER! THE IMPROVISED MUSICAL, Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Every night is opening night for Showstopper! The Improvised Musical. There's just one small problem: the writer hasn't written a note and needs your help. A hilarious musical comedy made up on the spot using suggestions from the audience and accompanied by a live band.

For our visit, the audience suggestions consisted of a setting of a hedge maze with songs in the style of Les Miserables, Six, Guys and Dolls and Legally Blonde. The title of this new musical - ‘The Hedge of Reason'.

Our performers were Lauren Shearing, Adam Meggido, Justin Brett, Dylan Emery, Ruth Bratt, Jonathan Ainscough and Andrew Pugsley. Whilst all are incredibly talented, a special mention must go to Bratt for the most hilarious and confident portrayal of a drunk we have ever seen; her facial expressions were just magnificent.

The beauty of this concept is that you can revisit it time and time again and never see the same production twice. It has to be one of our top shows to watch at the Fringe and anywhere else it may be appearing.

The funniest, cleverest musical show there is!

***** Five stars
