Fringe review: LAST STAND ON HONEY HILL, Liz Cotton - Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Liz Cotton has become an eco-warrior! Writing campaign songs, in her own village, about the environment. The show is for anyone who likes comic songs, a bit of filth and has even a passing interest in saving the planet.

Cotton is just the most hilarious and honest songwriter. She has the most infectious attitude of not caring what anyone else thinks and puts it to music. The result is a brilliant one-woman show, a guitar and lots and lots of green!

The songs are accompanied by amusing stories, slides (lots of her gorgeous cat Purdey) and a campaign to stop the relocation of the Cambridge sewer works to Honey Hill (a beautiful green belt) and its accompanying tunnels of waste through her garden.

In steps Liz and her Crap Community Choir! It's a fantastically motivating story of village life, community spirit and hope. Every village needs a Liz Cotton and every Fringe needs a Last Stand on Honey Hill!

Superbly written and marvellously performed.

***** Five stars
