Fringe review: LACHLAN WERNER - VOICES OF EVIL, Edinburgh Festival Fringe

It's very simple to see why Lachlan Werner won the accolade for Best Show at Brighton Fringe and earned nominations such as Comedy Breakthrough and LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year. They simply have such a talent that it would be rude not to share it with us!

In Voices of Evil, Lachy is a poof and also a virgin, apparently. Brew is a witch, a small one, and she has chosen this night to sacrifice him. To help with his self esteem, obviously! An occult ritual where demonic voices are heard from every corner and everyone is at risk of being puppeted by evil.

It's impossible to know what's coming next, as the pace of the show sees us move from one thing to another, taking unpredictable turns and having us laughing so hard our faces ache. It's a comedically genius tale from a versatile performer that just simply needs to be seen!

Werner's talent does not stop at ventriloquism. They can sing and act too, making this much more than the usual puppet show.

The venue is perfect, helping to create an intimate, spooky space for this production, with its stone walls, low ceiling and windowless environment.

We don't want to give away too many spoilers on this one Besties; it really does need to be seen to appreciate just how magnificent it is. So if you're looking for a hilarious evening that's a little bit different, you're not afraid of the dark and not adverse to helping a small witch make a sacrifice, this is definitely one for you.

Outrageously funny and exceedingly imaginative.

***** Five stars
