Preview: LUMINARIUM: MYRIAD, Woolwich Works

Something quite unusual has landed in the courtyard at Woolwich Works, and will be there for just a few days so you will need to act fast to experience it. Myriad, the name of the installation, is an Illuminarium: a maze of coloured light and interesting spaces, colourfully lit by natural sunlight filtered through red, blue and green panels. Entering Myriad involves passing through an air-lock as everything is held in place by air pressure.
It’s a visual, aural and tactile experience that will cause a range of reactions, from awe to delight, or even quiet contemplation. Due to the fragility of the structure, visitors need to take off their shoes before entering. Doing so seems to add to the potential thoughtfulness of the visit, perhaps due to shoe removal being part of visiting many religious sites.
During its few days at Woolwich Works, Myriad is open for visits but will also play host to a number of events in the main dome, including object theatre, drag storytelling, magic and baby yoga.
Luminarium: Myriad will be at Woolwich Works until 6 April so head down and take a look!
