Only Fools and Horses icon Tessa Peake Jones leads comedy drama INVISIBLE ME at Southwark Playhouse

Bren Gosling’s heartfelt and hilarious comedy drama Invisible Me will play at Southwark Playhouse Borough from 8 April-2 May starring Only Fools and Horses star Tess Peake Jones, it has been announced.

Invisible Me follows three Londoners as they steer through the trials and tribulations of hitting sixty, being single and not wanting to be either.

Proving that sixty is just the beginning, formidable actress Tessa Peake-Jones plays Lynn, a hotel cleaner with secret desires. With decades appearing on our screens and stages, Peake-Jones brings authenticity to the role, capturing Lynn's ordinary life lived extraordinarily.

Using unfiltered narratives, Invisible Me also follows HIV+, recent widower Jack, as he grapples with getting back out there after three-decades of coupledom. Then there’s ‘retired’ punk Alec, still living in his glory days, who gets a big wake up call, when he thinks he’s just pulled. The curtain is lifted on mature dating and every Londoner’s search for connection, in a warm, heartfelt story about love and need for community.

The production will be directed by Scott Le Crass who captures the true essence and camaraderie of this unlikely trio. Playwright Bren Gosling’s intention to show that sexual fantasies and desires are all the norm for sexagenarians is championed as audiences are reminded of the need to connect with one another. In an age group where society assumes loneliness is inevitable, Invisible Me shows that optimism and love can, in the end triumph overall.

Scott Le Crass said: “When I first read Invisible Me what struck me was that it gave much needed space to older narratives that is refreshing, surprising and honest. The idea of not feeling seen or heard is so universal and what our sense of community means is something that I think has great importance at the moment.”

Further casting will be announced soon.
