Casting has been unveiled for one of Edinburgh Fringe’s most anticipated new musicals Footballers’ Wives: The Musical – based on the iconic noughties ITV series, which plays at Assembly Rooms (Music Hall) from 30 July-24 August.

The cast includes Ceili O'Connor (Mary Poppins, West End) as leading WAG Tanya Turner, with ruthless midfielder Jason Turner played by Matt Beveridge (The Choir of Man, West End). India Chadwick (Grease, UK Tour) will play Chardonnay Lane, with Leesa Tulley (Why Am I So Single?, West End) as Donna Walmsley, Tom Bowen (Mamma Mia, West End) as Kyle Pascoe, Ty-Reece Stewart (Thriller Live, West End) as Ronnie Charles/Marcello, Emma-Jane Fearnley (Betty Blue Eyes, Union Theatre) as Kelly Charles/Magda, Laura Judge (Gypsy, Ilkley Musical Theatre Society) as Hazel Bailey/Jackie Pascoe, Matt Rixon (Moulin Rouge! The Musical, West End) as Frank Laslett, Leonardo Vieira (Bat Out of Hell, UK Tour) as Salvo/Guru, Gillian Kirkpatrick (Billy Elliot the Musical, West End) as Nurse Dunkley, and Oliver Evans as Ian Walmsley.

Epic fashion, attempted murder, sexual impropriety, drama, heartbreak, comedy, singing, dancing – this new musical on the women behind the players thrives on the sass and grit that propelled an era of goal-digging success and whistle-blowing blunders. You don’t want to be off-side for this…

Footballers’ Wives the Musical features music and lyrics by Kath Gotts, with a book by Maureen Chadwick, direction by Anthony Banks, choreography by Arlene Phillips, set and video design by Andrzej Goulding, costumes by Susan Kulkarni, lighting by Jamie Platt, sound by Matt Peploe, orchestrations by Joe Davison and Nikki Davison from Auburn Jam Music, music supervision by Joe Davison, musical direction by Gemma Hawkins, and casting by Harry Blumenau.
