The National Theatre have announced that Milly Alcock (House of Dragon, HBO) will make her West End debut as Abigail in Lyndsey Turner’s acclaimed production of The Crucible, which plays at the Gielgud Theatre from 7 June-2 September.

Milly Alcock said: “To say it’s a dream come true to work on such an iconic play with such a distinguished theatre company is an understatement. I am beyond thrilled."

The Crucible is nominated for ‘Best Revival’ and ‘Best Lighting Design’ by Tim Lutkin at this year’s Olivier Awards.

A witch hunt is beginning in Salem. Raised to be seen but not heard, a group of young women suddenly find their words have a terrible power. As a climate of fear spreads through the community, private vendettas fuel public accusations and soon the truth itself is on trial.

The production is directed by Lyndsey Turner, with set design by Es Devlin, costums by Catherine Fay, lighting by Tim Lutkin, sound by Tingying Dong (content design), sound by Christopher Shutt (system design), composition and arrangements by Caroline Shaw, music direction and arrangements by Osnat Schmool, and casting by Alastair Coomer CDG and Naomi Downham.
