Running from 2-5 October, London's Barbican will host a major UK theatre premiere - ROHTKO, from one of Europe’s titular theatre-makers - Łukasz Twarkowski - featuring a techno soundtrack by composer, producer and sound artist Lubomir Grzelak.

This follows Twarkowski’s sold-out production of The Employees at the Southbank Centre this year.

ROHTKO is a fusion of event theatre, live cinema and defiant techno beats navigating one of the art world’s biggest fraud scandals. From Latvian-American artist Mark Rothko at its basis and the abstract expressionists, to exploring Chinese “decreation” philosophy and modern-day NFTs, ROHTKO looks at authenticity in how we define art's value in today's world.

This production is part of the 2025 UK/Poland Season, with the British Council partnering with the Polish Cultural Institute and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
