Katherine Kingsley joins cast of NOISES OFF in the West End

Katherine Kingsley will join the cast of the 40th Anniversary production of Michael Frayn’s comedy Noises Off on 13 February, it has been announced.

The three-time Olivier award nominated actress will take over the role of Belinda Blair from Tracey-Ann Oberman, whose final performance will be on 11 February, before she opens in her own production of The Merchant of Venice 1936 later this month.

The production is currently running at London’s Phoenix Theatre until 11 March and Kingsley joins Felicity Kendal as Dotty Otley, Jonathan Coy as Frederick Fellows, Matthew Kelly as Selsden Mowbray, Alexander Hanson as Lloyd Dallas, Joseph Millson as Garry Lejeune, Sasha Frost as Brooke Ashton, Hubert Burton as Tim Allgood and Pepter Lunkuse as Poppy Norton-Taylor.

Directed by Lindsay Posner, Frayn’s celebrated play is hailed as one of the greatest British comedies ever written. Noises Off follows the on and off-stage antics of a touring theatre company. From the shambolic final rehearsals, through opening night, to a disastrous matinee, and their final catastrophic performance.

Written after watching a production of his 1970 farce The Two of Us with Richard Briars and Lynn Redgrave from the wings, Frayn noted that the goings on behind the scenes were funnier than what was happening out front!
