Full casting announced for THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE by Oscar winner Martin McDonagh

Leenane casting

The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and Chichester Festival Theatre have announced full casting for their upcoming production of The Beauty Queen of Leenane.

The production, from the writer of award-winning blockbuster films Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and In Bruges, Martin McDonagh, will open on 3 September.

Joining the cast will be Orla Fitzgerald, Adam Best, Ingrid Craigie and Kwaku Fortune for this highly anticipated major revival of McDonagh’s darkly comic debut play, which will open at the Minerva Theatre, Chichester before transferring to the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre from 9 October to 6 November.

The Beauty Queen of Leenane is set in the mountains of Connemara, County Galway, Maureen Folan – a plain, lonely woman, tied to her manipulative and ageing mother, Mag – comes alive at her first and possibly last prospect of a new life. But Mag has other ideas; and her interference sets in motion a train of events that leads inexorably towards the play’s breathtaking conclusion.

The Beauty Queen of Leenane will be directed by Rachel O’Riordan, designed by Good Teeth Theatre, with lighting by Kevin Treacy, and music and sound by Anna Clock.
