Full cast announced for Robert Icke’s adaptation of THE LIVES OF OTHERS

Full casting has been announced for the world premiere of the stage adaptation of Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s Academy Award-winning film The Lives of Others, adapted and directed by Robert Icke.
Joining Keira Knightley, Stephen Dillane and Luke Thompson will be Jamie Ankrah (Romeo and Juliet, West End), Jake Benson (Trainspotting, Edinburgh Fringe), Matt Ray Brown (Teeth ‘n’ Smiles, West End), Lucy Doyle (Jack & Sarah, The Mill at Sonning), Calum Finlay (A Man for All Seasons, West End/UK tour), Josh Gordon (Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s Globe), Paul Higgins (The Unbelievers, Royal Court), Leda Hodgson (Season, Exeter Northcott), Nick Holder (London Road, National Theatre), Sibylla Meienberg (Kyoto, @sohoplace), Irfan Shamji (Robota, Schwarzman Centre), Richard Sutton (The Winter’s Tale, RSC), and Andrew Woodall (The Promise, Chichester Festival Theatre).
The production begins previews at the Adelphi Theatre on 14 October, and runs until 9 January.
The production sees Icke and producer Sonia Friedman renew their creative partnership following their work on productions including Oedipus, Manhunt, Hamlet, The Doctor, Oresteia and 1984; and Knightley and Friedman, following their work together on The Children’s Hour.
Listening changes everything.
1984. East Germany. A writer and an actor are placed under state surveillance. From the attic above their apartment, their Stasi man listens for evidence of subversion. But to observe a life is to risk changing your own.
The production is designed by Hildegard Bechtler, with lighting by Jon Clark, sound by Giles Thomas, video design by Tal Yarden, original music by the multi-award-winning composer Max Richter, and casting by Julia Horan CDG.
