Stage musical phenomenon WICKED has announced that Carl Man, who is currently playing the role of Fiyero at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, will take over the role in New York, making his Broadway debut on 3 March, with Jacob Young taking over in London from 10 February-17 May.
WICKED also marked another incredible milestone last week, celebrating its 7500th performance in its Apollo Victoria Theatre home on Wednesday afternoon.
Carl Man’s portrayal of the charismatic character Fiyero began with his engagement as understudy Fiyero in the West End’s 15th Anniversary company. Carl went on to perform the principal role across the UK and Ireland as part of the 2023 – 2025 tour company opposite Laura Pick as Elphaba and Sarah O’ Connor as Glinda. He was welcomed back to the West End last spring, where he has since led the London 2025 - 2026 company alongside Emma Kingston (Elphaba) and Zizi Strallen (Glinda). Carl’s final London performance takes place on 8 February.
Like Carl, Swansea-born Jacob Young’s talent has been nurtured within the company. Jacob is a current WICKED ensemble member and cover Fiyero. Previous stage roles include: For Tonight; Mamma Mia!; The Pirate Queen, West End, Heathers at The Other Palace, and the UK tour of Grease.
The London company currently features Emma Kingston as Elphaba, Zizi Strallen as Glinda, Sarah Ingram as Madame Morrible, Michael Matus as The Wizard, Ross Carpenter as Boq, David McKechnie as Doctor Dillamond, Hannah Qureshi as Nessarose, Laura Emmitt (Alternate Elphaba), and Lydia Gerrard (Standby for Glinda), with Iroy Abesamis, Zac Adlam, Steph Asamoah, Meg Astin, Rebecca Bowden, Shaun Chambers, Erin Gisele Chapman, Grace Durkin, Onyemachi Ejimofor, Aaron Elijah, Emily Goodenough, Aimee Hodnett, Nat Ingham, Holly Lawrence, Jemima Loddy, Josh Lovell, Will Luckett, Rory Maguire, PaddyJoe Martin, JoJo Meredith, Ayden Morgan, Rina Punwani, Abbie Quinnen, Jemma Revell, Jeanie Ryan, Charlotte Anne Steen, Chris Tarsey, Hannah Taylor and James Titchener.
