Alfred Enoch & Rebekah Murrell to lead cast of ROMEO & JULIET at Shakespeare’s Globe this summer

Romeo and Juliet

Ola Ince’s upcoming revival of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, can finally go ahead this summer at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and has announced its initial casting.

Running from 26 June to 17 October, the cast will feature Alfred Enoch and Rebekah Murrell as Romeo and Juliet. They will be accompanied by Beth Cordingly as Lady Capulet, Will Egerton as Tybalt, Adam Gillen as Mercutio, Clara Indrani as Montague, Zoe West as Benvolio, Dwane Walcott as Paris, and Sargon Yelda as Friar.

Critically acclaimed Ola Ince, who was the Associate Director of Tina – The Tina Turner Musical from 2018 to 2020 alongside Phyllida Lloyd, will direct the production, assisted by Rachel Lemon. Romeo and Juliet will be designed by Jacob Hughes and has composition by Max Perryment.

Shakespeare’s Globe announced today that its season of shows will commence on 19 May, subject to social distancing guidelines. Michelle Terry, Artistic Director, said: “To even be announcing a season means that we are inching ever closer to getting back to doing the thing that we love, the thing that the Globe was built for, and the thing that so many of us, artists and audience alike, have lost during this time: sharing time, space and story with as many people as is safe.”

More information about the upcoming season, and links to tickets, can be found on the Globe’s website here.
