The Kings Theatre has announced that Dick Whittington can finally complete his journey that was unfortunately cut short in December 2020, leaving many ticket holders disappointed.

With the news from the government’s roadmap that theatres are on track to open from 17 May, The Kings Theatre has scheduled Dick Whittington – The Pompey Panto for Friday 23 July to Sunday 8 August 2021, which will mark its first ever summer panto.

The traditional pantomime will feature local favourites X factor finalist and half of Same Difference, Sean Smith as Dick Whittington, Jack Edwards as Dame Dolly, James Percy as Silly Billy, Julia Worsley as the evil Queen Rat, Peter McCrohon as Alderman Fitzwarren and Tara Holland as Alice Fitzwarren.

CEO of the Kings Theatre, Paul Woolf, said:  “I am absolutely delighted to announce the re-launch of our amazing Pompey Panto – Dick Whittington, with our fabulous cast and creative team. It felt like unfinished business closing so abruptly and with over 11,000 people booked to see the show during the rest of the run. Putting the panto back on really draws a line under what we have all been through in the last year. Come and join us for what will be an amazing fun-filled family party.”

Dick Whittington will feature the same incredible sets and costumes, a stellar cast and great dance numbers that were present before its untimely stoppage. It is a family event full of fun sing-along tracks which will celebrate arts in the city.

Tickets for Dick Whittington are now on sale and are available here.
