Corrie legends announced for AN AUDIENCE WITH CORONATION STREET tour
Three Coronation Street icons have now been officially confirmed to join the star-studded line-up of An Audience with Coronation Street: Barbara Knox, Bill Roache, and Amanda Barrie will appear live on stage to celebrate the show’s incredible legacy and share unforgettable stories from their years on the cobbles.
Their announcement marks a major highlight in what is already shaping up to be an unmissable event for fans across the UK.
Barbara Knox, who has played Rita Sullivan for over five decades, remains one of the show’s most beloved and enduring characters and will be appearing in London and newly added Salford matinee.
Barbara said: “I’ve always believed the magic of Coronation Street lives in the connection it has with its audience. After so many wonderful years on the cobbles, it feels very special and a little nerve-racking to be stepping out and sharing some of those memories face to face. I don’t often do things like this, but this show felt like the right moment to say thank you, and to celebrate everything Corrie has meant to all of us over the years.”
Bill Roache, who has portrayed Ken Barlow since Coronation Street’s very first episode in 1960, holds the world record for the longest-serving actor in a continuous television role and will appear in Salford (evening) and Sunderland.
Bill said: “When I first stepped onto the street in 1960, I never imagined the journey it would become for me and for millions of viewers across the globe. Coronation Street has been a second home and its fans an extended family. To now have the chance to meet audiences in person, share stories, and reflect on such a remarkable legacy is a real privilege. I’m truly looking forward to celebrating this incredible show, and all the people who’ve made it what it is, both on screen and watching at home.”
Amanda Barrie, known for her memorable portrayal of Alma Halliwell, brought humour and heart to the cobbles for two unforgettable decades and will be appear in Sheffield and Glasgow.
Amanda said: “Returning to celebrate Coronation Street is like stepping back into a cherished chapter of my life. Alma was a character I loved deeply, and I still hear from fans who remember her with such fondness. The show’s heart has always been its people, on screen and off and I’m so looking forward to sharing those memories with the audiences who made it all so special.”
It's a remarkable and heartening celebration of enduring talent, spirit and connection with generations of viewers as Bill, Barbara, and Amanda each take to the stage in these special shows across the country. Their appearances are a testament to the lasting impact they've had and continue to have on audiences nationwide.
An Audience with Coronation Street is already proving a huge hit with audiences. With the original Salford date selling out in record time, a special matinee performance has been added at The Lowry on 20 September, along with an additional date at Sunderland Empire on 21 September.
Hosted by This Morning’s resident soap expert Sharon Marshall, the event features five Coronation Street stars live on stage at each performance. Fans will enjoy an evening packed with laughter, behind-the-scenes secrets, and never-before-heard stories from the cobbles.
Regrettably due to unforeseen diary circumstances, Sue Cleaver is no longer able to join the London performance, however producers have confirmed that Sam Aston, who plays Chesney Brown, will now be joining the London show line-up in her place.
Confirmed cast members include audience favourites such as Andrew Whyment (Kirk Sutherland), Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), Jane Danson (Leanne Battersby), Samia Longchambon (Maria Connor), Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald), and now Sam Aston (Chesney Brown).
Whether you’ve watched from the very beginning or you’ve only just discovered the magic of Weatherfield, this once-in-a-lifetime live experience is not to be missed.
