CINDERELLA: AN IMMERSIVE PANTOMIME EXPERIENCE to play National Trust property
This festive season, audiences are invited to a magical ball as National Trust's historic house, East Riddlesden Hall in West Yorkshire, is transformed into a festive wonderland for brand-new show, Cinderella: An Immersive Pantomime Experience, from 4-23 December.
Set within the beautiful 17th century house and grounds, Electric Press Productions invites audiences to journey through the beloved fairytale story before the clock strikes midnight, meeting the characters, discovering hidden corners and becoming part of the magic along the way.
Created by the award-nominated female duo behind Electric Press, Samantha Creswick and Emily Susanne Lloyd, and written by Calum Finlay, Cinderella: An Immersive Pantomime Experience blends live music, larger-than-life characters and festive magic, all uniquely shaped by its historic venue. Following the success of their previous immersive production, A Christmas Carol, the pair return with another inventive festive experience that reimagines a classic tale.
Set in the world of the classic fairytale, Cinderella follows a young woman dreaming of escape from life with her stepfamily and a chance to share her voice with the world. When the kind hearted Prince Max hears her sing at the village Yuletide Fayre, he is captivated and announces a grand ball at the Royal Palace to find her. Audiences will see that when midnight strikes, Cinderella refuses the traditional ending. Instead, she challenges expectation and invites Max to choose music, freedom and adventure over glass slippers and royal duty, reimagining the fairytale as a bold celebration of self-expression, independence and defining happiness on your own terms.
Director Emily Susanne Lloyd said: “When we started talking about what could follow A Christmas Carol, we knew we wanted to create a pantomime, but we wanted to do it in a way that felt unique to Electric Press. Rather than asking audiences to come into a theatre, we're inviting them to step inside the story itself. East Riddlesden Hall felt like the perfect setting. Audiences will journey through the site, discovering characters, music and magic around every corner. At the heart of our Cinderella is a story about finding your own voice and choosing your own path. We hope families leave having shared a truly magical experience together and created memories that last long after Christmas has passed.”
