Cast announced for world’s first Theremin-based musical FALLING IN LOVE WITH MR. DELLAMORT
A West End cast and sensational New York Theremin artist have been announced to star in the European premiere of the world’s first Theremin-based musical, Falling In Love With Mr. Dellamort, which plays at Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 30 July-24 August.
With a book and co-lyrics by Jack Feldstein, music and co-Lyrics by Paul Doust, and direction by Abigail Zealey Bess, Falling In Love With Mr. Dellamort is laced with an original pop score featuring the endlessly expressive sound of the Theremin and live Foley-style sound effects.
A quirky and strangely comic tale with a touch of Gothic sensibility, three lost souls receive an unexpected and mysterious invitation to spend New Year’s Eve at Maison Dellamort: a remote seaside guest house with a peculiar yet magnetic host. As the drama unfolds, the secrets of the guests as well those of the enigmatic Mr. Dellamort are revealed. As Dellamort’s carefully planned weekend goes comically awry, the story takes an unexpected and sinister turn...
Filled with quirky characters and a delightful exploration of unrequited love, mystery, mortality and a touch of the supernatural, Falling in Love With Mr. Dellamort is great fun in much the same vein as cult musicals Little Shop of Horrors and The Rocky Horror Show.
The European premiere cast includes Robert Tripolino (Jesus Christ Superstar, Barbican/Australian tour), Grace Farrell (The Crucible, West End), Chris O’Mara (Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, West End), Natalie Arle-Toyne (Dracula: Mina’s Reckoning, National Theatre Scotland), Jennie Jacobs (Stiletto, Charing Cross Theatre), and New York Theremin artist Cornelius Loy.
The production features musical direction by Ben Papworth, sound by Sarah Weltman, and casting by Michael Howell.
