Cast announced for MOTHER COURAGE AND HER CHILDREN at Shakespeare's Globe
Shakespeare’s Globe has announced the cast and creative team for Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children, translated by Anna Jordan, which plays in the Globe Theatre from 7 May – 27 June.
The cast includes Rawaed Asde (Nightsleeper, BBC) as Swiss Cheese, Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge (Beautiful, Stratford East) as Sargeant/Clerk/Man, Eiden River-Coleman (Medea, @sohoplace) as Child, Rachelle Diedericks (Pericles, RSC) as Kattrin, Sarita Gabony (Even More... Ghost Stories By Candlelight, Hightide/Pentabus) as Woman/Soldier, Keaton Guimarães-Tolley (Francisco de Nata, Soho Theatre/Edinburgh Fringe) as Recruiter/Fur Coat/Soldier, Vinnie Heaven (Richard II, Bridge Theatre) as Eilif, Nadine Higgin (Ballet Shoes, National Theatre) as Yvette, Sienna-Rae Kenna-Braithwaite (Shakespeare’s Globe debut) as Child, Daniel Rainford (Top G’s Like Me, Royal & Derngate) as Ensemble/Cover, Ferdy Roberts (Kyoto, RSC/@sohoplace) as Minister, Max Runham (A Pacifists Guide to the War on Cancer, National Theatre) as Narrator, Simon Scardifield (Romeo and Juliet, Contact Theatre) as General/Bloody Nose/Yellow Sergeant, Nicolas Tennant (The Birthday Party, Theatre Royal Bath) as Chef, Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe Michelle Terry as Mother Courage, and Ayla Wheatley (King Lear, West End) as Ensemble/Cover.
Director Elle While said: “Directing Brecht’s masterpiece in a brilliant adaptation by Anna Jordan is totally exhilarating. To add to that, this is a fantastically talented and huge-hearted cast, and I couldn’t be more excited to start rehearsals on this most pertinent play for our current times.”
Joining director Elle While on the creative team are composer James Maloney, costume designer Fly Davis, designer takis, fight and intimacy director Rachel Bown-Williams, movement directors and choreographers Anna Morrissey and Lucy Cullingford, voice and text coach Nia Lynn, and casting director Becky Paris.
