Cast confirmed for VAGABOND SKIES - THE VAN GOGH MUSICAL at Edinburgh Fringe

Casting has been revealed for new British musical, Vagabond Skies - The Van Gogh Musical, which premieres at the Edinburgh Fringe this summer.

Written by Tony Norman, with orchestrations by Mark Edwards and direction by Sarah Dormady, the musical was inspired by the letters between Vincent and his much-loved brother Theo.

The production’s cast includes Alex Bloomer (The Lion King, West End) as Vincent van Gogh, Richard Dawes (Stiletto, Charing Cross Theatre) as Theo van Gogh, Jordan Frazier (Hamilton, West End) as Agostina, Francesca Leyland (Les Misérables, West End/25th Anniversary Production at the 02) as Johanna van Gogh-Bonger, Patrick Jennings (Kinky Boots; Matilda the Musical, NZ tour) as Gaugin, Maren Ovida (Matilda the Musical, Norway) as Sien, and Anna Unwin (I Should Be So Lucky, UK tour; Aspects of Love, West End) as Rachel.

The ensemble includes Max Cadman (Friends: The Musical Parody, UK & Ireland tour) - also cover for Vincent, Sacha Koplewsky (professional debut) - also cover for Theo, Jake White (Annie; West Side Story, Eastbourne), and Amy Bennett (Cinderella, Chaplins; Christmas Cracker, Theatre by QE2).

Director Sarah Dormady said: “We are pleased to announce the exciting cast performing in Vagabond Skies - The Van Gogh Musical during our forthcoming run at the Edinburgh Fringe. Sharing this fantastic, original new British musical with discerning Edinburgh audiences will provide the platform to take the production to the next stage in its journey.”

A sung through biographical musical, the show takes the audience on a captivating and emotional journey with the man who was to become the most famous artist in the world. Gut-wrenching and uplifting in equal measure, this new production depicts Vincent's later years with emotive songs and vivid artwork that portray his resilience despite a constant cycle of unfulfilled love, rejection, loneliness and mental turmoil.

While a completely unique creative production, the audience experience is reminiscent of the grit of Peaky Blinders, the emotion of Les Mis, and the enduring optimism of Moulin Rouge. This original musical will stay with audiences long after the final curtain.

Vagabond Skies - The Van Gogh Musical premieres at Gilded Balloon at the Museum from 30 July-21 August, with further info here.
