Cast and creatives announced for new musical PRECIPICE at New Diorama Theatre
The full cast and creative team have been revealed for the world premiere of new musical Precipice, which plays at New Diorama Theatre from 11 November-13 December.
The ensemble cast consists of five multi-talented actor-musicians: Max Alexander-Taylor (Jesus Christ Superstar, Watermill Theatre) as Biscuits, Holly Freeman (Coram Boy) as Emily, Isabella Marshall (The Tempest, RSC) as Maggie, Melinda Orengo (Police Cops: The Musical) as Piper, and Eric Stroud (101 Dalmatians) as Ash.
Precipice has been created in a uniquely collaborative process by a team of six writers combining their personal talents and specialisms: Stu Barter (Talkshow), Rachel Bellman (These Demons), Darren Clark (Olivier winner for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Annabelle Lee Revak (Windsong), Shaye Poulton Richards (Lies All The Way Down), and Timelapse Artistic Director Adam Lenson (Cable Street). Born of NDT’s Intervention01, the Precipice team were supported to trial new ways of making theatre, culminating in this production.
Centuries apart, the residents of a towering high-rise arrive at a crossroads, taking shelter along the riverbank in Greenwich – the place where time begins and the world ends. In the near present, a biomedical emergency drives a young couple to confront their own complicity in the face of impending catastrophe. Four hundred years from now, those who remain celebrate their survival, while long buried truths threaten to unravel their carefully constructed way of life.
As the tides rise and the power fails, two timelines converge in a single flat, where yesterday’s mistakes become tomorrow’s reckonings. Precipice is a story of crisis, humanity, and hope at the edge of disaster.
Precipice will be directed by Adam Lenson, with design by Libby Todd, and lighting by Olivier-Award winning Ben Jacobs.
Precipice is the debut show from new company Timelapse.
Creator/Director Adam Lenson said: "New Diorama has given Timelapse the opportunity to make as audacious a new musical as I can remember. Our team of writers have crafted a gripping story, exhilarating songs, and I'm thrilled to be working with such a talented group of multi-skilled actor musicians to bring this show to life."
