Cast and creative team announced for world premiere of new musical COVEN at Kiln Theatre

The cast and creative team have been announced for the world premiere of new musical Coven, which plays at the Kiln Theatre from 31 October-20 December.

Coven has music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winning Daisy Chute with Rebecca Brewer, a book by Rebecca Brewer, and is directed by Olivier Award winner Miranda Cromwell.

Cromwell directs Allyson Ava-Brown (Hamilton, West End) as Nell/Elizabeth, Rachel Barnes (Grapes of Wrath, National Theatre) as Ensemble, Gabrielle Brooks (Get Up, Stand Up!, West End) as Jennet, Shiloh Coke (Chiaroscuro, Bush Theatre) as Frances/Alizon, Rosalind Ford (In Clay, Upstairs at the Gatehouse) as King James/Ensemble, Penny Layden (The Ocean at the End of the Lane, National Theatre/West End) as Martha/Judge, Holly Mallett (Andy & the Band, CBBC) as Ensemble, Lauryn Redding (Standing at the Sky’s Edge, West End) as Rose, Kathryn Tindall (Mamma Mia! The Party, O2) as Ensemble, Diana Vickers (I Wish You Well -The Gwyneth Paltrow Ski-Trial Musical, West End) as Edmund/Covell, Jacinta Whyte (Juno and the Paycock, West End) as Maggie, and Jennifer Whyte on Keys.

1612. Pendle, Lancashire. A witch hunt is raging and a 9-year-old Jennet accuses her own family of witchcraft. 21 years later, she finds herself imprisoned, surrounded by the most feared women in town. As the accuser becomes the accused, Jennet must confront a 250-year legacy of witchcraft and the dark secrets of her own past. As she listens to the shocking stories of the women around her, Jennet’s faith begins to crumble.

The creative team also includes set and costume designer Jasmine Swan, lighting designer Zeynep Kepekli, sound designer Helen Atkinson, musical supervisor Jennifer Whyte, choreographer Shelley Maxwell, puppetry director Laura Cubitt, and casting director Rosie Pearson for Pearson Casting CDG, with dramaturgy by Tom Wright, and voice coaching by Hazel Holder.
