Casting announced for BLISS at Edinburgh Fringe

The cast and creative team have been announced for BLISS, the biggest new musical of this year's Fringe festival from the Olivier Award-winning producers behind CABARET AT THE KIT KAT CLUB and THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON.

Four sisters escape their tower and collide with the outside world. Where fairy godfathers rule and happy endings come at a cost, this hilarious, razor-sharp tale rewrites the concept of happily ever after.

Taking on the role of the eldest of the Minisculia princesses, Princess Faye, is the BAFTA nominated Miriam Nyarko (Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Lion King). Matilda Shapland, who has played Young Eponine and Little Cosette in Les Misérables in the West End, and as the eponymous lead in Matilda the Musical at the Cambridge Theatre, is Princess Holly, and Princess Carmella is played by Alexandra Emmerson-Kirby, who made her professional debut as Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray the Musical.

The announced princesses made their first performance together at West End LIVE this weekend.

Joining the cast is Cameron Johnson (Guys & Dolls, Bridge Theatre) as King, Kara Lane (The Addams Family, UK Tour) as Taffeta, and Jordan Calloway (Rock of Ages, German Tour) as Prince Devin. Ollie Augustin (Starlight Express, West End), Archie Durrant (Matilda The Musical, West End) and in his professional theatre debut, Will Twiste, who all take on the role of Jester.

Also taking to the Scottish stage as Perfect Princess and dance captain is Alicia Belgarde (Grease, UK tour). Maya De Faria (Kiss Me, Kate!, Barbican), Ronalee Galhena (Fringe debut), Millie Gubby (Wicked, International Tour), Ella McLaughlin (Fringe debut), and Ella Valentine (The Devil Wears Prada, West End) also join the company as Perfect Princesses.

The fearless new 80-minute show about ripping up the rulebook and the price of perfection is directed by Tony Award nominee Sheryl Kaller, with a book, music and lyrics by Emma Lively and Tyler Beattie, with choreography by Olivier Award-nominated Josh Prince.

BLISS has set design by Jason Ardizzone-West, costumes by Paloma Young, lighting by Jai Morjaria, sound by Tony Gayle, music supervision by Nick Finlow, music direction by Georgia Rawlins, orchestrations by Emma Lively, Tyler Beattie & Steve Sidwell, dramaturgy by Pippa Evans, and casting by Heather Basten CDG.

Further casting will be announced soon to complete the seventeen strong cast of performers.
