Birmingham Rep announce open casting call for festive production of PETER PAN

Last year, Birmingham Rep declared a renewed focus on The Rep producing new productions ‘Made in Birmingham’, and as part of this mission The Rep has announced an open casting call for Birmingham and West Midlands actors to audition for The Rep’s forthcoming Christmas production, Peter Pan, which will take to the venue’s main stage from 18 November 2026 – 17 January 2027.

This open call follows the hugely successful call for The Rep’s Spring production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream resulting in three local actors being cast for the show.

Peter Pan is set to wrap up Joe Murphy’s inaugural season, as well as mark the first Christmas show directed by The Rep’s own Artistic Director in over a decade. The venue will hold open auditions on 19 March for local actors to be part of this magical new production. A full casting breakdown can be found by visiting The Rep’s website here.

This opportunity is open to any passionate and versatile actor-musician based in Birmingham or the West Midlands who are excited by bold, contemporary storytelling. The Rep welcomes applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and professional representation is not required to apply. The Rep has stated it is looking for a core group of actor-musicians who are highly proficient in playing the following instruments:

  • Drums

  • Bass

  • Rhythm guitar

  • Lead guitar

  • Trumpet

  • Trombone

  • Saxophone plus clarinet

  • Tenor sax

  • French horn

  • Cornet

Birmingham Rep Artistic Director and Director of Peter Pan, Joe Murphy, said: “Our entire ethos for 2026 and beyond is to bring big, bold and daring programming that is Proudly Birmingham and Distinctly Rep – and what better way to showcase our Brummie Pride than to find talent right here in our city, giving local actors opportunities to perform on their home stage!

“We were completely overwhelmed by the success of our previous casting call for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, so I’m thrilled to open up the audition process once again for this year's Christmas show, Peter Pan, and hopefully continue to create a space for local actors and performers to shine on our stage and be part of something truly magical. It’s vital that our theatre reflects the voices, stories, and artistry of the community we serve.”

To apply for an audition slot, simply complete an online application and submit an instrumental clip here.

The Rep team will then invite selected applicants to audition. Application deadline is 15 March at 12pm.

Auditions will take place at The Rep on 19 March.

This magical production is adapted by Phil Porter with original music from Ruth Chan, and with The Rep’s Artistic Director Joe Murphy at the helm of the (pirate) ship!
