Almeida Theatre announces full cast of AMERICAN PYSCHO

Full casting has been announced for the revival of Rupert Goold’s ★★★★★ “outrageously entertaining” (The Times) musical American Psycho, based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, which plays at the Almeida Theatre from 22 January-14 March.

Featuring a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and music and lyrics from Spring Awakening composer Duncan Sheik, Goold revisits this sell-out, darkly satirical commentary on capitalism for his final production as Almeida Artistic Director.

The cast includes Emily Barber (Operation Mincemeat, West End) as Evelyn Williams, Daniel Bravo (Mean Girls, West End) as Paul Owen, Jack Butterworth (Extraordinary Women, Jermyn Street Theatre) as Craig McDermott, Hannah Yun Chamberlain (Sunset Boulevard, West End/Broadway) as Christine/Ensemble, Arty Froushan (Leopoldstadt, West End/Broadway) as Patrick Bateman, Oli Higginson (Measure for Measure, RSC) as Timothy Price, Kim Ismay (Fanny, Watermill Theatre/King’s Head Theatre) as Mrs Bateman, Alex James-Hatton (Spend, Spend, Spend, Royal Exchange) as Sean Bateman, Liz Kamille (Cabaret, West End) as Ensemble, Anastasia Martin (The Land of the Living, National Theatre) as Jean, Millie Mayhew (The Great Gatsby, West End) as Sabrina/Ensemble, Posi Morakinyo (Much Ado About Nothing, RSC) as David Van Patten, Joseph Mydell (Oedipus, Old Vic) as Detective Kimball, Asha Parker-Wallace (Starter for Ten, Bristol Old Vic/Birmingham Rep) as Victoria/Ensemble, Tanisha Spring (A Christmas Carol, Old Vic) as Courtney Lawrence, Samuel J Weir (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, West End) as Swing, and Zheng Xi Yong (Four Play, King’s Head Theatre) as Luis Carruthers.

There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory.

Patrick Bateman has it all – looks, money, style and status. Engaged to the beautiful Evelyn Williams, he is about to win the prestigious Fischer account for his investment bank and celebrate by dining at Dorsia. But there’s another side to his life that Patrick keeps secret. And people – including those closest to him – keep disappearing…

The creative team includes choreographer Lynne Page, set designer Es Devlin, costume designer Katrina Lindsay, lighting designer Jon Clark, sound designer Dan Moses Schreier, video designer Finn Ross, music supervisor David Shrubsole, musical director Ellen Campbell, and casting directors Natalie Gallacher CDG for Pippa Ailion and Natalie Gallacher Casting.
